The Food Pyramid is a very helpful diagram of how you should be eating. Below is a picture of the pyramid:
Breads and Cereals Group: This group is one of the most important parts of the food pyramid. Whole grains, breads, cereals, and pasta noodles give you the nutrients to stay healthy all around. Eat 6-11 servings a day.
Vegetable Group: This group is all about your veggies. Vegetables contain many different nutrients to make you healthier. Such as carrots and celery (improve eyesight). Eat 3-5 servings a day.
Fruit Group: This group is all about energy. Fruit gives you your daily source of fibers and natural sugar. (Natural Sugar is GOOD for you, it's nothing like other unhealthy sugars) Eat 2-4 servings a day.
Meat & Alternatives Group: Meat is great because it gives you a good source of protein. Some people live good as vegetarians, too, but meat makes you stronger (it improves the muscles) and even more healthier. Meat gives you great proteins, and especially fish because it is nice and balanced. Eat 2 servings a day.
Dairy Group: The good old dairy group Dairy products like milk, cheese, and yogurt give you energy and help make strong bones. Without dairy products our bones would have dissintegrated by now. (I know it sounds disgusting) Even ice cream is good for you, except if you don't want to eat sweets it's better if you have low fat or low calorie ice cream. Better yet, just grab yourself some frozen yogurt. It's like ice cream except healthier and more wholesome. Eat 2 servings a day.
Fats, Oils, and Sweets: Um...it isn't quite the best idea to eat a lot of fats, oils, and sweets. Sweets and fat can make you fatter (hmm...i wonder how FAT makes you FATTER? so weird...lol), and more unhealthier. It can slow you down and at first it gives you a jolt of energy, but then it quickly wears you out after. It is ok to eat sweets and fats, but with a lot of excercise and healthy eating inbetween. Eat sparingly.
